From Student to Mentor: My Journey in Tech

Q: What inspired you to become a coding mentor?

I remember struggling as a beginner, wishing I had someone to guide me. When I finally broke into tech, I promised myself I'd help others navigate the same journey. Seeing students land their first developer jobs is incredibly rewarding.

Q: What's the biggest mistake you see beginners make?

They try to learn everything at once. Tech moves fast, but you don't need to know everything. Master the fundamentals first — JavaScript, HTML, CSS. Build real projects. The rest will follow naturally.

Q: What advice would you give to aspiring developers in South Africa?

The South African tech industry is booming. Remote work has opened global opportunities. Focus on building a strong portfolio, contribute to open source, and network. Your location doesn't limit your potential anymore.

Q: What's next for you at CodeVerge?

We're launching an advanced mentorship program where students work on real client projects. It's about bridging the gap between learning and professional work. I'm excited to see our graduates building world-class products.
